Ceramic Metering Pump

High - Precision Ceramic Metering Pump: Ensuring Exact Fluid Delivery

The ceramic metering pump is a type of precision pump that uses ceramic components, particularly in the pumping chamber and piston, to achieve accurate and consistent fluid delivery. These pumps are known for their durability, chemical resistance, and ability to handle corrosive or abrasive fluids. They are widely used in industries where precise fluid control is crucial, such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food processing, and electronics manufacturing.

Ceramic dosing pumps are highly specialized tools designed for applications where precision, durability, and chemical resistance are paramount. They offer significant advantages in critical industrial processes where accurate fluid control is essential.

Structural features

Ceramic components

Its key components are made of ceramic materials. Ceramics have the characteristics of high hardness and wear resistance, enabling the metering pump to effectively resist the wear of solid particles that may exist in the liquid during long-term operation. Ceramics also have good chemical stability.

Precise metering structure

It is usually equipped with high-precision drive devices and metering components. Its drive mode can be electric or mechanical (such as a cam mechanism driven by a motor, etc.). By accurately controlling the movement of the drive components, accurate metering of liquid flow can be achieved. For example, in the pharmaceutical industry, when various liquid medicine components need to be added according to the precise formula ratio, the ceramic metering pump can control the dosage of each component within a very small error range to ensure the stability of the drug quality. The internal flow channel and metering chamber are also precisely designed. Their dimensions are strictly calculated and processed to ensure that the flow of liquid in the pump is stable and precisely controlled.

Sealing system

Good sealing is an important feature of ceramic metering pumps. It generally uses special sealing materials and structures to prevent liquid leakage. Common sealing methods include mechanical seals and rubber seals. Mechanical seals prevent liquid leakage by tightly fitting between the dynamic and static rings. They have good sealing effects and can adapt to higher pressure environments. Rubber seals mainly use the elasticity of rubber materials to fill the sealing gap and have better sealing effects for some low-pressure and low-viscosity liquids.

Working principle

Suction process

When the driving component of the pump (such as the piston or diaphragm driven by the motor) moves, negative pressure is generated at the suction end of the metering pump. This negative pressure causes the transported liquid to enter the metering chamber of the pump through the suction pipe under the action of atmospheric pressure.

Metering process

After the liquid enters the metering chamber, the volume of the liquid is determined by the precise metering mechanism of the pump. For example, for a piston-type ceramic metering pump, the stroke of the piston is precisely controlled, and the distance the piston moves determines the volume of the inhaled and discharged liquid.

Discharge process

The driving component continues to move to squeeze and discharge the liquid in the metering chamber. Under the action of pressure, the liquid is transported to the target position through the discharge pipe. This process is similar to a syringe injection. When we push the piston of the syringe, the liquid inside will be discharged.

Application areas

Chemical industry

In chemical production, ceramic metering pumps are used to transport various chemical raw materials and intermediates. For example, in the production of fertilizers, it is necessary to accurately measure and transport raw materials such as ammonia and sulfuric acid.

Pharmaceutical industry

In the process of drug production, it is used to accurately prepare various liquid components. From the dissolution and mixing of raw materials to the delivery of additives in the preparation process, ceramic metering pumps play a key role.

Water treatment industry

In the process of water treatment, it is used to add flocculants, disinfectants and other chemical agents. For example, in the purification process of the water plant, it is necessary to accurately add flocculants such as polyaluminum chloride to remove suspended impurities in the water. Ceramic metering pumps can accurately control the amount of agents added and improve the effect of water treatment.
