The pumps for pharmaceutical filling are made of modern engineering ceramic materials, utilizing ceramics' high hardness for abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance, acidity and alkalinity resistance, combined with metal socket technology for assembly and molding. It is an ideal substitute for traditional pumps, and is now widely used in pharmaceutical apparatus, environmental engineering, petrochemical and other industries.

Ceramic filling metering pump consists of ceramic pump body, rotary valve, metering rod, stainless steel inlet and outlet nozzles and connectors.


Ceramic filling metering pump working principle:

  • The mouth of the rotary valve is aligned with the liquid inlet, and the downward linear movement of the ceramic column generates negative pressure and suction of liquid;

  • The mouth of the rotary valve is aligned with the liquid inlet, the downward linear movement of the ceramic column, generating negative pressure, inhalation of liquid.


Assembly of pumps for pharmaceutical filling and connection to filling machines:

  1. As the ceramic rod and ceramic sleeve are precision fittings, the gap is very small and cannot be interchanged; the products have been numbered before leaving the factory and cannot be interchanged during cleaning and assembly.

  2. Ensure that all sealing parts are installed in place and must not leak before loading the machine.

  3. The assembly gap with the filling machine components must be eliminated (assembly gap leads to changes in the stroke, which leads to measurement inaccuracy), the coaxiality of the moving parts must be guaranteed (affecting the service life of the pump and loading accuracy).


Cleaning and Sterilization of Pumps for Pharmaceutical Filling:


Cleaning program:

  • Soak in warm water (50 ℃) for 30 minutes with powder with particles to clean the shaft and tube;

  • Long-term placement, the first use of the need to remove the pyrogen, 1 ~ 2% NaoH, pay attention not to use hot lye (temperature can not be higher than 40 ℃), seals with lye soak time can not be too long, otherwise the elasticity will deteriorate.

Sterilization procedure:

  • Dry heat sterilization or high-pressure moist heat steam can be used for sterilization: however, since the seal can only withstand temperature 160℃, the seal should be removed before dry heat and the seal should be sterilized by high-pressure moist heat steam. (It is recommended to use high pressure moist heat steam for sterilization, sterilization temperature 121℃, pressure 0.1MPa, time 30 minutes).

Cleaning and Sterilization Precautions:

  • Chemical solutions containing chlorine shall not be used in contact with stainless steel to prevent corrosion of stainless steel parts.

  • Ceramic metering parts should not be pulled in hot water over 40°C during cleaning. The ceramic plunger and ceramic sleeve should be cleaned separately.

  • Sterilization should be rotary valve, ceramic sleeve, metering rod separately in a special sterilization box, and ceramic rod, ceramic sleeve hanging vertically for wet heat sterilization to prevent heat deformation and bending; sterilized should be waiting for the temperature of the components naturally drop to room temperature, before installation operations, the pump body temperature drops to room temperature, should avoid sudden cold leading to the damage of the components.

  • As the hardness of ceramic is greater than stainless steel, ceramic and stainless steel contact can make the ceramic surface adhering to stainless steel, can not be removed, may lead to the filling pump does not run smoothly or can not move. This may lead to damage. It is recommended that non-metallic materials be used as storage containers for cleaning and sterilization.
